This workshop is over. Creede was a great place to paint. We stayed in the Antlers Lodge 5 miles west of Creede Colorado. For images taken during this workshop, click the read more button below. I only had two students in the workshop to teach, Cassandra Welton and Joe Latting. Doc Weaver, Joan Potter and Lee Rommel came along to paint on their own. They are accomplished painters and certainly don't need any help from me. Alyce Weaver, Bruce Welton and Suzanne Latting came along and did their own thing... exploring, fishing, site seeing. We had a great time!
Left to right: Joan Potter, Cassandra Welton, Lee Rommel, Doc Weaver. Painting the Bachelor Canyon behind the town of Creede. The Motel Rooms at the Antlers Lodge. The rooms overlook the Rio Grande River and has an excellent dining room, barbeque facilities, an RV park and cabins. A great place to headquarter a painting trip or workshop. Looking up the Rio Grand River from the walking bridge next to the rooms. You can paint a lot of scenes just a few steps from the motel.
We had access to several ranches with beautiful views thanks to arrangements made by my sister, Mary. Mary and Brad Smith live in Creede. The scenery is FANTASTIC! This view is on the 4UR ranch.
Another scene looking the other direction from the above photo on the 4UR ranch.
Bachelor Canyon from above the town of Creede. A wonderful study of shadows and subtle color.
A fly fisherman early in the morning taken from the porch of our motel.
Main Street in Creede, Colorado looking toward the Bachelor Canyon mining district. Creede is a very small town with colorful period buildings and some great restuarants.
Taking a break between paintings.
Lee Rommel, Joan Potter, Bruce and Cassandra Welton, Mary and Brad Smith. Getting ready to head out and find a place to paint. |
